🤖 Tomodachi AI — Privacy Policy

Tomodachi AI ("the bot", "Tomo") is an AI-powered Discord bot. This policy explains what data the bot processes, why, and what your choices are.

1. What we collect and why

• Account identifiers. Your Discord user ID, used to store and retrieve your personal conversation memory so the bot can remember you across sessions.
• Conversation history. Messages you send to the bot are stored locally in memory files (up to 40 messages per user). This is used to give the bot context about past conversations so it can respond as a consistent friend. Only the text content is stored — not your username, avatar, or any other profile data.
• Images you send. If you send an image to the bot, it is temporarily processed by the Groq vision API to generate a response. Images are not stored — they are processed in memory and discarded immediately after the response is sent.
• Server configuration. For servers other than Tomodachi, the bot stores the configured channel ID and daily usage count to enforce limits and ensure the bot only responds in the designated channel.

2. What we do NOT collect

• Message content is never stored outside of the bot's local memory system.
• The bot does not read or store messages in channels it has not been configured for.
• No voice data. The bot does not access voice channels.
• No presence, activity, or status data.
• No DM snooping. Direct messages are never read by the bot.
• We do not sell data, show ads, use third-party analytics, or use your data to train AI/ML models.
• Images are never stored, logged, or retained after processing.

3. Where data lives & security

Conversation memory is stored in JSON files on the hosting server (Wispbyte). Access is limited to the bot process and the server owner. No external database is used for memory storage. Server configuration data is also stored locally on the same server.

4. Third-party services

• Discord — the platform the bot operates on. Discord's own Privacy Policy applies to all data on their platform.
• Groq API — used to process chat messages and generate AI responses. Messages are sent to Groq's servers for inference. Groq's Privacy Policy applies to data processed by their API.
• Wolfram Alpha — used to solve math and science questions. Queries are sent to Wolfram's servers. Wolfram's Privacy Policy applies.
• Pollinations AI — used to generate images from text prompts (Tomodachi server only). Prompts are sent to Pollinations' servers. No personal data is included in image generation prompts.
• Wispbyte — used to host the bot and its memory files.

5. How long data is kept

• Conversation memory is kept indefinitely until you request deletion or use the !forget command or /reset slash command to clear it yourself.
• Server usage counts reset automatically every 24 hours.
• Server configuration (channel ID) is kept until the server removes the bot or requests deletion.

6. Your choices & controls

• Use !forget or /reset at any time to permanently delete all conversation memory the bot has stored about you.
• Use !remember to see how many messages the bot currently has stored for you.
• You can request full deletion of your data by contacting @winchipz via Discord DM.

7. Who can see your data

Your conversation history is private — only the bot uses it to generate responses. No other users can view your memory. Server owners can see usage statistics for their server (message count only, not content). The bot owner (@winchipz) has access to the server files where memory is stored.

8. Children's privacy

The bot is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has used the bot, please contact us and we will delete their data immediately.

9. Changes to this policy

If the bot's data practices change, this document will be updated and the effective date revised. Significant changes will be announced in the Tomodachi server.
